Assessment
We can provide a range of psycho-educational and neurodevelopmental assessment services for young people (age 7+) and adults, which include:
Cognitive assessment
Cognitive assessments can help gain an understanding of an individual's cognitive strengths and weaknesses, and assist in developing learning strategies and recommendations, as well as guiding personalised support.
Educational assessment
Educational assessment helps to understand an individual's cognitive and academic strengths and challenges; investigate learning difficulties in areas such as reading, spelling, writing, and maths; and determine whether criteria for a Specific Learning Disorder (commonly known as Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, or Dyscalculia) are met.
Autism and ADHD assessment
Comprehensive diagnostic assessments are offered for individuals seeking to explore possible Autism or ADHD profiles. The assessment process employs a collaborative approach to support self-understanding and self-acceptance, and gaining insight into processing, thinking, and communication differences, and how these patterns may influence their day to day life, such as learning, relationships, and wellbeing.
What is involved
The amount of time needed will depend upon the type of assessment and referral concerns. The assessment process typically includes:
-
An interview to better understand the client's history and the experiences that brought the client to the assessment
-
Testing session(s) involving various interactive tasks and/or standardised testing
-
Completion of a battery of questionnaires by multiple informants that are customised to the client's needs and targeting the areas of functioning being assessed
-
A feedback session to review results and discuss recommendations
-
A comprehensive written report detailing assessment findings and recommendations
